9-11

9-11, not just the "Emergency Number" anymore!

This number is also a "Day to Remember".
On 9-11, or September 11, 2001 somone, or some group, took it upon themselves to strike an unprovoked attack on United States Targets. Although this was not the first attempt at striking fear, and harm on the citizens of the United States, it is by far the worst.

The President has ordered all US flags to be flown at half mast untill September 22, 2001.

DesMoines, Iowa Public Safety Office website has a link to order a special Memorial T-Shirt. Proceeds from this will be used to help out our "Heros at Ground Zero" in NY.
International Firefighters Day There has been a lot of talk going around about starting a "National Firefighters Day" in the United States. In as much as I would support that idea, I would like to suggest that it coincide with "International Firefighters Day" observed on May 4. Please click on the IFFD logo above to find out more information, and support this important day. Thank you!

United We Stand!
Numerous targets on the East Coast were hit by an unlikely weapon. Commercial airliners were hi-jacked, and used as weapons. Two were sucessful in destroying the World Trade Center in Manhattan, NY, and another struck the Pentagon in Washington, DC. A fourth plane did not reach it's target. It instead was re-taken over by airline passengers, causing it to crash in a remote place, saving countless lives. We stand and salute those brave souls that accomplished that deed.

I also need to salute the brave men and women of the police and fire departments that were the first responders at all of these incidents. Although I maintain this website from the relative safety of my home in Davenport, Iowa, I have strong roots in the City of New York. I also do not want to downplay any of the casualties of this act of war. My heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to all of the victoms of this atrocity. I still am praying for those that have been listed as missing, and hope that they are found in good shape.

I hearby dedicate this page to those brave heros of FDNY, NYPD, the Port Authority of NY/NJ, but most personally, to my best friend, Paul Beyer. He was assigned to Engine 6, just blocks away from the Twin Towers. We laid Paul to rest on May 31, 2002. Thanks to all the brothers from FDNY Engine 6, for adopting my girlfriend Cassandra and I, into the family of Engine 6!. God Bless you brothers! You demenstrated the highest traditions of FDNY, and I am proud to be a member of "the Family"! May the memorial item I made for you, serve proudly in your house, as your members serve for us!

FDNY Res1cue The website of Rescue 1, where the two Geidel Brothers were stationed. Paul and I grew up on the same street as them. Gary Geidel is also missing since 9-11.

Special moving Poem, from the heart of a firefighter, use your back button to return here.

The following poem was written by the wife of a Volunteer Firefighter in Pennsylvania. Her name is Diane Huggins, and she was thoughtful enough to share this with the firefighting family. Thank you Diane.

To Our Public Servants
There are men and women everywhere;
They serve us every way!
They take their lives in danger,
To save us everyday!
They are, our public servants,
We thank you very much.
They never think a moment.
of the danger they are in.
They give their life for you and me;
They truly are, our friends.
They're our police and fire fighters;
Our EMS as well, they give so much,
To all of us,
They work hard every day!
We could not live with out you;
We thank you and we pray;
That God will keep you safe;
Out of harm's way!
To wake up with your families;
to see another day!
We honor you and praise you;
In cities and in towns.
From New York where you died;
To save so many lives!
All across our Nation;
In tribute and in praise!
We thank you for your service;
We honor you today!
For all the brave ones fallen;
that died and went away;
You will always be remembered,
And honored every day!
We thank you for your service;
We honor you today!
